Tendermint Inc builds and maintains critical state-of-the-art infrastructure for decentralized applications, such as Tendermint Core & Cosmos SDK. We are also the primary builder of the Cosmos Network, a decentralized network of independent, scalable, and interoperable blockchains.

About the Position

The VP of Product Marketing role will guide a team of marketers developing integrated campaigns globally that drive thought leadership, developer engagement, and demand for platform usage. These integrated programs will leverage the full marketing mix and are aimed at supporting developer success and community engagement. Key is a focus on long-range planning and execution and proven expertise in demand generation, communications management, community growth, company events, and content marketing aimed at establishing and extending market leadership.

In managing an exceptional and cohesive marketing team, you must be skilled at hiring, mentoring, and retaining top talent and managing high performing teams.

You are also a key member of Tendermint overall marketing leadership team, whose aim is to build a world-class marketing function and ensure strong cross-team collaboration, particularly with sales and product marketing and across regions.


Build, inspire, and lead a marketing organization that delivers against marketing goals, with clearly defined roles, career paths, succession plans, and employee success strategies

Translate goals into effective integrated marketing strategies and campaigns for key product lines and customer segments that support the achievement of quarterly and annual goals

Closely collaborate with BD/strategic partnerships and across marketing functions, including product marketing, to ensure the development and delivery of the most effective and efficient programs across our markets

Oversee the development and execution of marketing strategies and models and stay well-informed of marketing trends

Ensure the function scales through successful cross-collaboration and gains leverage, where possible, from what’s produced in other geographies

Develop and manage marketing program budgets; measure and optimize marketing programs to ensure activities are effective, efficient, and deliver high ROI

Help define product messaging and target cohorts by understanding key platform capabilities, differentiators, benefits and use cases

Understand market trends and competitive landscape in the networking landscape

Create content, assets, and tools including sales presentations, ROI tools, whitepapers, blogs, competitive briefs and other materials

Be a spokesperson for the company at key industry events and in interviews with thought leaders


Story Telling – Ability to communicate Tendermint’s vision to diverse audiences, and to span messaging from high-level brand awareness to feature-level product differentiation

Metrics Driven – Data-driven decision making, analytical rigor, and a bias towards experimenting quickly and scaling the programs that produce results

Creativity – Thrives in an environment without a set playbook, is excited to build a scalable, high-impact marketing program

Leadership – Track record of hiring and developing strong talent; “leads from the front”, with deep knowledge of operational details and a willingness to get hands dirty

7-12 years professional experience

4-6 years in B2B technology marketing at the Director or VP level

Expert-level command of product marketing (messaging, product launches, sales enablement, etc.)

Experience with events / field marketing, communications, digital marketing, and marketing automation

Deep understanding of B2B SaaS sales (experience with both SMB and enterprise businesses is a plus)

Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills

Strong data analysis skills, comfortable analyzing campaign results, working in financial models

Experience leading multiple teams

Experience with blockchain is not necessary, but it is required to be technical enough to learn, question and simplify technical concept
